It’s nice to see Safari is coming to a new version. A lot of the rendering problems that have been fixed in the WebKit nightly builds are on here. Especially this annoying one that caused the balances in my account listing on Bank of America’s Online Banking to look wrong. It appears that buttons on webpages are now styled by CSS if set to do that rather than just being normal buttons. This looks better across the web and within the wordpress admin panel.
Sure, it’s a beta, but I am looking forward to the final version. It hasn’t been crashing on me like other people seem to be having. Of course, I did have a problem when I installed. I had installed this SIMBL plugin that would alert you when quitting with multiple windows/tabs or closing a window with multiple tabs. Since Safari 3 now has that feature built in, I didn’t need it. The plugin was actually making it where I was unable to close a window once it was open. I just removed the Taboo file and it went back to the normal working operation.
That’s the only problem I’ve had with it. It’s nice to see WebKit moving in good strides. I like the moveable tabs too!
You can get it for Windows too now. I’ve tested it on my brother’s XP computer and it works fine for me. It loads up in a blink to me. Some people have complained about plugins not working or something but they work for me fine. Flash and Java. I think it just imported them from the Firefox install or something.
Give it a try; if you hate it, uninstall it. Safari on Apple’s site.
