With the advances in technology and with global warming, would it be unreasonable for me to assume that a car manufacturer would want to make cars more efficient? Apparently this is not the case the Chevrolet. My 2005 Malibu gets better mileage than the new 2008 Malibu. How is it that three years have passed and the MPGs have actually went down on the car? It’s not a more powerful engine or anything.
Maybe it’s time car companies really start to pay attention to things like this. Oil at $116 a barrel tells me it’s time to start caring about our use.

The EPA has revised how it calculate fuel economy. You can’t compare 2005 to 2008 estimates equally.

The EPA changed how it calculates fuel economy as of 2008 model year. It’s not an apples to apples comparison to compare 2006 to 2008. The goal of the 2008 changes was to make the figures more realistic.
